NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF DENMARK PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNOG
Presentation of Credentials
Carsten Ulrich Staur, the new Permanent Representative of Denmark to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Staur had been serving as Denmark’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York since 2007. As State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2001 to 2007, Mr. Staur was responsible for the implementation of Denmark’s development assistance programme, and for cooperation with the United Nations system and the World Bank.
From 1998 to 2001, Mr. Staur served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark first as Under Secretary for Administrative Affairs and, from 2000 to 2001, as Under Secretary for Bilateral Development Cooperation. Mr. Staur was Denmark’s Ambassador to Israel from 1996 to 1998 and Director for Development Policy and Planning from 1994 to 1996. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark in 1981.
Mr. Staur holds an MA degree (History and Literature) from the University of Copenhagen. He was born in 1954 and is married.
