NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF UGANDA PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA

Christopher Onyanga Aparr, the new Permanent Representative of Uganda to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Onyanga Aparr served as Uganda’s High Commissioner to Nigeria since 2010. He was Uganda’s Ambassador to Germany from 2004 to 2006, serving concurrently as Ambassador to Austria and the Vatican State. From 1996 to 2000, he was Uganda’s Ambassador to the Russian Federation, serving concurrently as Ambassador to Ukraine.

Mr. Onyanga Aparr started his career as a lecturer at the Uganda Technical College, where he worked from 1974 to 1975. He has worked a Government Valuer at the Government’s Department of Lands and Surveys (1974 to 1978); a Senior Government Valuer at the Ministry of Lands, Mineral and Water Resources (1978 to 1984); a Chief Estates Officer at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (1984 to 1989); and the Principal Housing Officer at the National Housing and Construction Corporation (1992 to 1996). He has also worked in the private sector.

Mr. Onyanga Aparr has a bachelor of arts in land economics from the University of Nairobi, Kenya (1971 to 1974) and a post graduate diploma in public administration from the Uganda Management Institute (1981-1982). He was born on 1 January 1948 and is married with seven children.
