NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF IRAN PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNOG

Presentation of Credentials

Seyed Mohammad Sajjadi, the new Permanent Representative of Iran to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Sergei Ordzhonikidze, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Sajjadi had been serving as Director-General for International Political Affairs at the Iranian Foreign Ministry since 2007. He was Head of the West Asia Department at the Ministry from 2005 to 2007.

Mr. Sajjadi joined the Foreign Ministry in 1990. He served in the Iranian Embassy in Jakarta from 1994 to 1998 and the Permanent Mission of Iran to the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, based in Bangkok, from 2001 to 2005.

Before joining the Foreign Ministry, Mr. Sajjadi worked at Iran Broadcasting (1989 to 1990) and Iranian Radio (1985 to 1989). He has produced more than 100 articles in different fields such as history, politics, international relations and economics in the press and for Iran Broadcasting.

Mr. Sajjadi has a BA in international relations from the College of International Relations affiliated to the Foreign Ministry; and an MA in Political Science from Tehran University. He was born in Tehran on 16 October 1961 and is married with three children.
