NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF CROATIA PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNOG

Presentation of Credentials

Mirjana Mladineo, the new Permanent Representative of Croatia to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented her credentials to Sergei Ordzhonikidze, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to her appointment to Geneva, Ms. Mladineo had been serving as Croatia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Headquarters in New York since 2005. She also served as Minister Counselor at the Permanent Mission of Croatia to UN Headquarters from 1992 to 1997. She was Head of the Croatian Mission to the European Union in Brussels from 2003 to 2005. She served as national Coordinator for the Central European Initiative at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Croatia from 1997 to 1999.

Ms. Mladineo has held a number of different government posts during her career, including as Deputy Minister and Ambassador at the Croatian Ministry for European Integration from 2000 to 2003; Head of Office and Ambassador at the Office for European Integration from 1999 to 2000; Counselor and Personal Secretary to the Chief of Staff of the office of the President of Croatia from 1991 to 1992; Head of Department and Assistant Director at Croatia’s Administration for Scientific and Technical International Cooperation from 1984 to 1991; and Counselor at Croatia’s Committee for Education, Culture, Technical Culture and Sports from 1977 to 1984.

Ms. Mladineo has represented Croatia at a number of United Nations and international conferences, multilateral events and bilateral negotiations. She has a degree in English and Russian languages and culture from the Philosophy Faculty of the University of Zagreb (1979) and has attended a number of specialized courses in international relations and European integration. Born on 15 February, 1946, in Zagreb, Croatia, she is married with one daughter.
