NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNOG
Presentation of Credentials
Valery Loshchinin, the new Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Sergei Ordzhonikidze, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Loshchinin had been serving as the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation since 2004. He was Secretary of State and First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2002 to 2004, and he served as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2001 to 2002.
Mr. Loshchinin was the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the international organizations in Vienna, Austria from 1999 to 2001. He was Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Byelorussia from 1996 to 1999. He was also the Deputy Permanent Representative of the USSR/Russia to the international organizations in Geneva from 1989 to 1995.
Mr. Loshchinin began his diplomatic career in 1965 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Byelorussia, and joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR in 1977.
He has degrees from the Byelorussia State University (1964) and the Diplomatic Academy (1977). He also has a Masters in the English and French languages. Born on 11 September 1940, Mr. Loshchinin is married.
