Les médias peuvent demander une accréditation de presse permanente ou temporaire pour leurs correspondants. L’accréditation autorise à couvrir l'ensemble des activités se déroulant à l'Office des Nations Unies à Genève, notamment les réunions du Conseil des droits de l'homme, les pourparlers de paix et d’autres grands événements et conférences.
Les correspondants accrédités assistent aux briefings bihebdomadaires présidés par la porte-parole des Nations Unies à Genève et auxquels participent aussi les porte-parole des institutions et programmes spécialisés des Nations Unies basés à Genève. Les correspondants ont également accès aux conférences de presse, points de presse et séances d’information qui se tiennent quasiment tous les jours au Palais des Nations.
Le Service de l’information des Nations Unies publie régulièrement des communiqués de presse et des comptes rendus des grandes réunions qui se déroulent à Genève, en particulier les sessions du Conseil des droits de l’homme, des Comités des droits de l’homme et de la Conférence du désarmement.
Les médias ont à leur disposition des espaces de travail en location ou gratuits. Ils peuvent aussi accéder aux services et studios de radio et de télévision des Nations Unies, selon les disponibilités.
