New Permanent Observer of the Council of Europe Presents Letter of Nomination to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva
Ambassador Sylvie Bollini, the new Permanent Observer of the Council of Europe to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented her letter of nomination to Tatiana Valovaya, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
Prior to her appointment to Geneva, Ms. Bollini had been serving as Senior Advisor to the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the Council of Europe on migration and refugees since 2022. She was a Programme Advisor to the Children’s Rights Division of the Council of Europe in 2021-2022.
Ms. Bollini served as Ambassador and Permanent Representative of San Marino to the Council of Europe (2018-2021). She was non-resident Ambassador of San Marino to Montenegro (2019-2021), and non-resident Ambassador to Monaco (2015-2021). From 2009 to 2018, she served as Head of the Office for International Adoptions and Protection of Minors, Child Abduction, Department of Foreign Affairs of San Marino. She was the Deputy Permanent Representative of San Marino to the Council of Europe (2008-2009).
Also at the Council of Europe, Ms. Bollini served as member of the Commission for Gender Equality from 2016 to 2018; expert in the Committee of the Council of Europe Convention on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse (Lanzarote Committee) from 2014 to 2018; elected member of the Bureau from 2015 to 2017; contact point for the Council of Europe Convention against Trafficking in Human Beings from 2013 to 2018; and expert in the Council of Europe Ad Hoc Committee on Preventing and Combatting Violence against Women and Domestic Violence from 2009 to 2011.
Ambassador Bollini has a master’s degree in international cooperation, humanitarian action and development studies from the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne (2007) and a master’s degree in political science, with a specialisation in international relations, from the same University (2007). She has a degree in international and diplomatic sciences from the University of Bologna (2005). She also attended a training course for peace operators in conflict areas (2008).
