New Permanent Representative of Germany Presents Credentials to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva  

Katharina Stasch, the new Permanent Representative of Germany to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented her credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva. 

Prior to her appointment to Geneva, Ms. Stasch had been serving as Chief of Staff and Head of Office for Germany’s Foreign Minister Heiko Maas since 2018. She was Chief of Staff and Head of Policy Planning at the Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection in Berlin from 2013 to 2018. From 2011 to 2013, she worked in the Cabinet of the First Parliamentary Secretary, Social Democratic Party of Germany Parliamentary Group, Federal German Parliament. She worked in the Cabinet of the Minister of Finance Peer Steinbrück at the Federal Ministry of Finance in Berlin from 2006 to 2011.

From 2005 to 2006, Ms. Stasch worked as an Attorney at Law in a law firm in Hamburg, Germany. She has also worked at the University of Hamburg, Institute for Foreign Private and Private International Law, first as a research assistant and lecturer from 1996 to 1999 and then as a senior research assistant and lecturer from 2000 to 2003.

Ms. Stasch has a Ph.D. from the University of Hamburg (2009). She passed the Second State Examination in Law, Oberlandesgericht Hamburg (2005). She has a Master of Laws from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London (2000). She passed the First State Examination in Law, Hamburg (1999). She studied at the Law School, Faculty of Ethnology, University of Hamburg from 1993 to 1999 and at the Law School at the University of Aix-Marseille, France from 1995 to 1996.
