NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF BELGIUM PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO THE DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF THE UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA

Presentation of Credentials

 

Marc Pecsteen de Buytswerve, the new Permanent Representative of Belgium to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Pecsteen de Buytswerve had been the Permanent Representative of Belgium to the United Nations in New York since 2016. He was a Director in the Office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2014 to 2016. He served as Belgium’s Ambassador in Kigali from 2011 to 2014, and as Consul General of Belgium in Shanghai from 2006 to 2009. He was also a Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Belgium to the United Nations in New York from 2002 to 2006.

A career diplomat, Mr. Pecsteen de Buytswerve served in Belgium’s Embassy in Buenos Aires as an Attache from 1991 to 1992 ; in Islamabad as a First Secretary from 1991 to 1995 ; and in Vienna as a First Secretary from 1995 to 1999.

Mr. Pecsteen de Buytswerve has a Master in Law and a Master in International Relations. He is married with three children.
