NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF CAMBODIA PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO THE DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF THE UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA

An Sokkhoeurn, the new Permanent Representative of Cambodia to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Mr. An will also be serving as the Ambassador of Cambodia to Switzerland.

Prior to his new appointment, Mr. An had been serving as Director-General of the General Department of Europe, Americas and Africa-Middle East at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Relations of Cambodia from May 2018 to October 2019. He was Deputy Director-General of the Department from March 2017 to May 2018.

A career diplomat, Mr. An has held many different positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, including Director of the Department of Europe from February 2016 to March 2017; Chief of Bureau of the Department of Planning from August 2011 to September 2012, and then Deputy Director of the Department from September 2012 to February 2016; and Officer at the Department of International Organizations from April 2006 to January 2009, and then Deputy Chief of Bureau at the Department from January 2009 to August 2011.

Mr. An was born on 25 October 1981 in Phnom Penh in Cambodia. He has a Master of Arts in international relations from Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse University (August 2009 to December 2010). He also has a Bachelor of Education from the Royal University of Phnom Penh (September 2000 to June 2004). He is married and has four children.
