NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF ETHIOPIA PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO THE DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF THE UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA

Presentation of Credentials

Zenebe Kebede Korcho, the new Permanent Representative of Ethiopia to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Michael Møller, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Korcho had been serving as Director General of the Directorate General for boundary and trans-boundary resources affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia since November 2018. He was Director General of the Directorate General for international legal affairs at the Ministry from July to November 2018. He served as Chief of Cabinet of the Minister at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs from March 2017 to July 2018.

From February 2014 to January 2017, Mr. Korcho served as Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Ethiopia in Kuwait. He was Consul General at the Consulate General Office of Ethiopia in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia from November 2012 to February 2014. He was posted at the Ethiopian Embassy in Brussels from September 2004 to July 2009, first as First Secretary and then as Minister Counsellor. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in December 1995.

Mr. Korcho has a Master degree in diplomacy, law and global change from Coventry University in the United Kingdom (2002); and a Bachelor of Law from Addis Ababa University Law School in Ethiopia (1990). He was born on 22 August, 1962 in Arsi, Ethiopia, and is married with three children.
