NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF UZBEKISTAN PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO THE DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF THE UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA

Ulugbek Lapasov, the new Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Michael Møller, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Lapasov served as Chargé d’affaires a.i. of the Permanent Mission of Uzbekistan to the United Nations Office at Geneva since January 2016, and as a first secretary since 2014. From 2012 to 2014, he was Chief of Division at the Department for Cooperation with Europe and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, and prior to that, from 2008 to 2012, he was appointed to the Embassy of Uzbekistan to France as a third secretary.

Mr. Lapasov joined the Uzbek Foreign Service in 2004, serving in the Uzbek Embassy in Belgium and the Missions to the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. From 2006 to 2008, he worked in the Department for Cooperation with Europe and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Born in 1982, Mr. Lapasov holds a degree in international relations from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and a master degree from the Law School at the Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3, France. He is married and has three children.
