NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF THE DEMOCRATIC PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF KOREA PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA
Presentation of Credentials
Han Tae Song, the new Permanent Representative of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Michael Møller, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Han had been serving as Deputy Director of the Department of International Organizations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea since 2012. From 2006 to 2012, he served as the Ambassador of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to Italy and the Permanent Representative to the United Nations and the Food and Agriculture Organization in Rome. From 1996 to 2000, he was the Deputy Representative at the Permanent Mission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to the International Maritime Organization and First Secretary at the Permanent Mission to the Food and Agriculture Organization.
A career diplomat, Mr. Han joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1980 after studying at the University of Foreign Languages in Pyongyang from 1975 to 1980. He has held various posts at the Ministry, including as Second Secretary at the Embassy of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to Zimbabwe from 1989 to 1992.
Mr. Han was born on 1 November 1958 and is married. He has been awarded a number of orders and medals by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
