NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF SENEGAL PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNOG

Mame Baba Cisse, the new Permanent Representative of Senegal to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Michael Møller, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Cisse served as the Ambassador of Senegal to Malaysia, between 2012 and 2015. In 2011-2012, he was a Minister Counsellor and the Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Senegal to the United States of America. Between 2008 and 2010, Mr. Cisse served as a Minister Counsellor and the Deputy Head of Mission at the Permanent Mission of Senegal to the United Nations in New York.

During his diplomatic career, Mame Baba Cisse worked as the Head of the United Nations Division and subsequently as the Director, a.i, of the International Organizations Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Senegal, from 2006 to 2008. Prior to that, between 2000 and 2006, he served as a Second and then First Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Senegal to the United Nations in New York. In 1999-2000, Mr. Cisse was a Second Counsellor at the Embassy of Senegal in Gabon. Mr. Cisse held various positions, including those of Heads of America and Legal Affairs Divisions, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Senegal, which he had joined in 1995.

With a bachelor degree in economics from the University Cheikh Anta Diop in Dakar, Mr. Cisse also holds a diploma in public administration from Ecole Nationale d’Administration in Dakar and a Master of Public Administration at the School of International and Public Affairs at the Columbia University. Born in 1969, Mr. Cisse is married and has five children.
