NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF RWANDA PRESENTS CREDENTIALS

Presentation of Credentials

Francois Xavier Ngarambé, the new Permanent Representative of Rwanda to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Michael Møller, the Acting Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Ngarambé had been serving as Rwanda’s Ambassador to China since 2010, concurrently accredited as Ambassador to Viet Nam, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Cambodia and People’s Democratic Republic of Korea.

Mr. Ngarambé started his career in 1976 as a junior clerk at the Statistics Department of the National Bank of Rwanda. He has worked in the private sector in Rwanda, Burundi and Kenya. From 2000 to 2006, he was Director-General of the Social Security Fund of Rwanda; from 2006 to 2007, he was Chairman and Director-General of the National Insurance Commission of Rwanda; and from 2007 to 2010, he was Executive Secretary of the Financial Sector Development Programme of Rwanda.

Mr. Ngarambé was born on 24 August 1957. He has two undergraduate degrees in management studies from the National University of Rwanda and a PhD in business administration from Tarlac State University in the Philippines. He is married with four children.
