NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF GUINEA PRESENTS CREDENTIALS

Presentation of Credentials

Aly Diane, the new Permanent Representative of Guinea to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Michael Møller, the Acting Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Diane was the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Guinea since 2011. He was Director of Strategic Studies and Planning at the Ministry from 2008 to 2011. He also served as Ambassador of Guinea to Canada from 2004 to 2007.

A career diplomat, Mr. Diane joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1981. He has held a number of posts at the Ministry during his career, including as National Director of Protocol from 2001 to 2002 and as Deputy National Director of Protocol from 1995 to 2001. Mr. Diane has represented Guinea at numerous bilateral and multilateral meetings.

Mr. Diane has a degree from the University of Gamal Abdel Nasser in Conakry in engineering and civil administration. He was born on 15 December 1952 in Faranah, Guinea, and is married with three children.
