NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF SOLOMON ISLANDS PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNOG

Moses Kouni Mose, the new Permanent Representative of Solomon Islands to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Mose had been working in Fiji, first as trade policy adviser (2004 to 2008) and then as programme manager (2008 to 2010) at the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat and then as High Commissioner at the Solomon Islands High Commission in Fiji (May 2010 to date).

Mr. Mose worked in Solomon Islands as an Assistant Project Manager at a European Union/National Authorizing Officer project from 2003 to 2004, and as an Assistant Project Coordinator with the United Nations Development Programme from 2002 to 2003. He worked at the Ministry of Commerce, Employment and Trade from 1993 to 2001. He served as Commercial Consul at the Solomon Islands Consulate General in Brisbane, Australia from 1990 to 1992; as Senior Trade Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Solomon Islands from 1989 to 1990; and as Industrial Development Officer at the Ministry of Commerce and Industries from 1986 to 1989.

Mr. Mose has a BA in public administration and economics from the University of the South Pacific, Fiji (1982-1985) and an MA in economics in public policy and management from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom (2001-2002). He was born on 6 March 1962 and is married.
