NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF SRI LANKA PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNOG

Presentation of Credentials

Kshenuka Senewiratne, the new Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented her credentials to Sergei Ordzhonikidze, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to her appointment to Geneva, Ms. Senewiratne had been serving as Director-General for Europe, Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and Americas, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka. She was Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, and also accredited to Ireland, from 2005 to 2008. She was Sri Lanka’s Deputy High Commissioner in London from 2002 to 2004.

A career diplomat, Ms. Senewiratne served as a Counselor in Brussels from 1993 to 1997, and as a Second Secretary in New York from 1988 to 1990. She has also held a number of positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka in Colombo.

Ms. Senewiratne has a BSC in economics from the University of Salford in the United Kingdom (1979-1982); a MA in international relations from the University of Colombo in Sri Lanka; and she followed the Foreign Affairs Study Programme at Oxford University (1996-1997).
