NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF GHANA PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNOG
Kwabena Baah-Duodu, the new Permanent Representative of Ghana to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Sergei Ordzhonikidze, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Baah-Duodu was the Supervising Director for Administration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ghana. He served, from January 2005 to March 2006, as Director of the Africa and African Union Bureau of the Ministry. From August 2001 to December 2004, he was the Deputy High Commissioner of Ghana to the United Kingdom. From November 1998 to August 2001, Mr. Baah-Duodu opened and served at the Embassy of Ghana in Seoul, Republic of Korea, as Chargé d’Affaires.
From December 1985 to August 1989, Mr. Baah-Duodu served first as First Secretary and later as Counsellor/Head of Chancery at the Permanent Mission of Ghana to the United Nations Office at Geneva. He started his diplomatic career with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1977, and served in the Finance and Accounts; Europe and Americas, and the International Organizations and Conference Offices of the Ministry until 1985. In the course of his diplomatic career, he has served on Ghana’s delegation to several meetings of the Commonwealth, the Non-Aligned Movement, the International Labour Organization, the African Union and the Economic Community of West African States.
From September 1992 to May 1993, Mr. Baah-Duodu participated in the research and teaching programmes of the Institute for the Study of Diplomacy at the School of Foreign Service of Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. as a diplomatic associate. He holds a graduate degree in international relations from the University of Nairobi (1980), and has a master’s degree in public administration (1977), as well as a bachelor’s degree in sociology (1974) from the University of Ghana.
Married, with four children, Mr. Baah-Duodu was born on 26 February 1949 in Denase, Ghana.
