NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF SAN MARINO PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNOG

Presentation of Credentials

Dario Galassi, the new Permanent Representative of San Marino to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Sergei Ordzhonikidze, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Galassi had been serving as Commissioner of San Marino to the International Whaling Commission since 2002. From 2000 to 2002, he was the Representative of San Marino to the UN Committee on Programme and Coordination, and was concurrently, from 2001 to 2002, non-resident Ambassador of San Marino to Ireland. As Permanent Representative of San Marino, he will continue to serve as Commissioner to the International Whaling Commission and Representative to the UN Committee on Programme and Coordination.

Since 1999, Mr. Galassi cooperated with the Directorate of Economic and Social Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and from 1996, he was assigned to the Ministry’s Directorate of Political Affairs.

Mr. Galassi was a member of the Permanent Mission of San Marino to the United Nations in New York from 1992 to 1995, first as an Administrative Adviser, then as a Counsellor. During that period, he participated in the delegation of San Marino to the UN Conference on Population and Development in 1994 in Egypt and the UN World Summit on Social Development in Denmark in 1995.

Mr. Galassi has a university degree in economics from Bologna University (1988). He was born in San Marino on 17 April 1963, and is married with two children.
