NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF BOTSWANA PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNOG
Presentation of Credentials
Boometswe Mokgothu, the new Permanent Representative of Botswana to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Sergei Ordzhonikidze, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
Mr. Mokgothu held the post of Minister of Minerals, Energy and Water Affairs of Botswana from 1999 to 2004. From 1992 to 1999, he was Assistant Minister of Local Government Land and Housing. From 1992 to 2004, he was also a Member of Parliament.
The new Permanent Representative of Botswana started his career as a primary school teacher, and then worked in the agriculture sector. He holds a Primary Teachers Certificate from the Francistown Teachers College, as well as a Certificate in General Agriculture from the Botswana Agricultural College, and a Diploma in General Agriculture from the University of Botswana and Swaziland.
Mr. Mokgothu was born on 4 March 1948 in Letlhakeng. He is married, and has five children.
