BECOMING A BLACK WOMAN
20 Septiembre 2022 18:30
Cinerama Empire,
Rue de Carouge 72, 1205 Genève
In support of the #FightRacism Campaign
(O.V. French and German with French subtitles)
In Switzerland, a land of consensus and neutrality, unprecedented voices are being raised by women who are fighting for the recognition of structural racism, deconstructing stereotypes and claiming their dual Swiss and black identity. Rachel (Barbezat) M'Bon, a Swiss-Congolese journalist, begins her own quest for identity. On her way to emancipation, she questions her past, her present and holds up a mirror to her country and her peers.
After the screeening, join us for a discussion on Dismantling systemic racism – Learn, Speak Up, Act! with:
- Rachel M'Bon, Film director and protagonist
- Mona Rishmawi, Chief, Rule of Law, Equality and Non-Discrimination Branch at the UN Human Rights Office
- Yvonne Apiyo Brändle-Amolo, Swiss Parliamentarian, intercultural mediator, film producer and feminist artist activist, or FemARTivist
Moderator: Alexandre Carette, Information Service, UN Geneva
