What is the multilateralism of the future? Join the Journey

Through this series, we'll discuss with a range of experts the issues and areas of potential action expected at the Summit. These ideas are guided by Policy Briefs prepared by the UN Secretary-General ahead of this critical meeting, as well as the key recommendations of the High-level Advisory Board on Effective Multilateralism

EPISODE 1 | Guy Ryder, Under-Secretary-General for Policy at the United Nations

What is at stake at the Summit of the Future? USG Ryder shares the behind-the-scenes preparations for the Summit, as well as the expected outcomes of this major meeting as we look to the multilateralism we need for the future. He also shares his views on meaningful youth engagement, why it is crucial for shaping the future of global initiatives and policies, and what Member States can do to facilitate genuine inclusion of young people in multilateralism.

EPISODE 2 | Paul Ladd, Director of the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD)

In 2023, UNRISD marked 60 years since its founding as an autonomous research institute within the UN system. Paul Ladd shared the history of UNRISD, and how it continues today to evolve and provide critical research and knowledge on social development for the UN to reduce inequalities and extreme poverty worldwide.

EPISODE 3 | Adriana Quiñones, Head of Human Rights and Development at the UN Women Liaison Office in Geneva

Quiñones shares what intersectionality means at UN Women, and how they're using an intersectional approach to work towards gender equality and ensure women and girls everywhere are seen and included in local and multilateral processes, and can fully enjoy their human rights. She also looks at how working through an intersectional lens can ensure a more inclusive, comprehensive and effective global governance, as proposed in Shift One of the High-Level Advisory Board on Effective Multilateralism.
