Briefing on the humanitarian situation in West Africa’s Sahel region (Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal, The Gambia and northern parts of Cameroon and Nigeria).
People in the Sahel are among the most vulnerable in the world and crises in the region are becoming more frequent. New approaches are needed for emergency actors to address such recurrent crises. The UN recently published the United Nations Integrated Strategy for the Sahel which encompasses emergency and development work and that of the UN in the fields of security and governance.
