New Permanent Representative of Somalia Presents Credentials to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva

Presentation of Credentials

Khadra Ahmed Dualeh, the new Permanent Representative of Somalia to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented her credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to her appointment to Geneva, Ms. Dualeh held various positions in the Government of Somalia in Mogadishu, most recently as the Minister of Commerce and Industry from 2017 to 2018.  She also held the positions of Director General of the Department of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Planning and International Coordination from 2013 to 2017; Senior Advisor to the Minister at the Ministry of Interior and Federal Affairs from 2014 to 2015; and Chief of Staff at the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation from 2013 to 2014. 

Before joining Somalia’s Federal Government, Ms. Dualeh held a variety of positions within the academic sector, including as Director of the Office of Professional Development at Carnegie Mellon University in Doha, Qatar from 2005 to 2012; Programme Director at the Office of International Student Programmes and Services at the University of Arizona from 2002 to 2005; and Academic Advisor at the Office of the Cultural Attaché at the Embassy of Qatar in Washington DC from 1997 to 2000, among others. 

Ms. Dualeh holds a Master of Art in International Education from New York University, New York, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Studies and Office Administration from Buffalo State University, New York.
