New Permanent Representative of Canada Presents Credentials to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva

Presentation of Credentials

Peter MacDougall, the new Permanent Representative of Canada to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. MacDougall was Canada’s Assistant Deputy Minister for Global Issues and Development.  He served as Ambassador to Jordan from 2016 to 2019.  He also served in the Privy Council Office (Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet) as the Assistant Secretary to the Cabinet for Foreign and Defence Policy and Director of Operations in the Foreign and Defence Policy Secretariat from 2011 to 2016.

Mr. MacDougall joined the public service in 2000.  He is a graduate of the University of British Columbia, the University of Victoria, McGill University, the Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University, and the École Nationale d’Administration (Strasbourg).  He serves as Canada’s G7 Foreign Affairs Sous-Sherpa.
