New Permanent Representative of Bahrain Presents Credentials to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva

Presentation of Credentials

Abdulla Abdullatif Abdulla, the new Permanent Representative of Bahrain to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Mr. Abdulla will concurrently serve as Consul General of Bahrain in Geneva, as Ambassador of Bahrain to Austria, and as Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office at Vienna and other international organizations.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Abdulla had been serving as Ambassador of Bahrain to Germany since October 2017, concurrently serving as Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Finland, Romania, Latvia, Estonia, Norway and Sweden since June 2018.  He served as Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain from August 2009 to October 2017.  He also served as Ambassador of Bahrain to Austria from 2008 to 2009.   

From 2006 to 2009, Mr. Abdulla served as Permanent Representative of Bahrain to the United Nations Office at Geneva, to the United Nations Office at Vienna, to other international organizations in Geneva and Vienna, and as Consul General of Bahrain to Switzerland.  From 2000 to 2005, he was appointed to the Embassy of Bahrain in London, serving as Deputy Head of Mission.  He joined the Foreign Ministry of Bahrain in 1981.

Mr. Abdulla has a master’s degree in corporate administration from Strathclyde University in Scotland (1990), and a bachelor’s degree in business administration and accountancy from Bahrain University (1987).
