New Permanent Representative of Mozambique Presents Credentials to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva

Presentation of Credentials

Geraldo Gonçalves Miguel Saranga, the new Permanent Representative of Mozambique to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Saranga had been serving as Director of Legal and Consular Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Mozambique since 2019.  He was also a Spokesperson for the Ministry from 2019 to 2021.  He was Consul-General of Mozambique in Lisbon from 2015 to 2018.

Mr. Saranga served as Secretary-General of the Constitutional Council of Mozambique from 2005 to 2011, concurrently serving as a university lecturer on international public law, political science and constitutional law at a number of universities.  He also resumed teaching from 2018 to date.  He served as Deputy-Director for Legal and Consular Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation from February 2002 to September 2005, concurrently serving as Chief of Staff (Head of the Minister’s Office) from February to September 2005. 

Mr. Saranga has a post-graduate degree in external and economic policy of Brazil from the University of Brazil (2013) and a master’s degree in diplomatic studies from the Diplomatic Academy of London, Westminster University, London (2002).  He also has a law degree from the Eduardo Mondlane University in Maputo (1996), as well as a translation/interpretation certificate from the Polytechnic of Central London, Westminster University (1987).  He was born on 23 March 1965 in Inhambane, Mozambique and is married.
