New Permanent Representative of Rwanda Presents Credentials to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva

James Ngango, the new Permanent Representative of Rwanda to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Before his appointment as Permanent Representative, Mr. Ngango had been serving as Minister Counsellor at the Embassy of Rwanda to Switzerland and as Deputy Permanent Representative at the Permanent Mission of Rwanda to the United Nations Office at Geneva since 2019. From 2015 to 2019, he was First Counsellor at the Embassy of Rwanda to Switzerland.  From 2007 to 2010, he was First Counsellor at the Embassy of Rwanda to Germany.

A career diplomat, Mr. Ngango has held various posts, including Director General for Bilateral and Multilateral Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2014 to 2015.  He was Acting Director for Africa and Acting Director General for Bilateral and Multilateral Cooperation at the Ministry from 2010 to 2014. He was Head of the Directorate for Bilateral and Multilateral Affairs at the Ministry from 2006 to 2007.  He was Acting Director for International Organizations and Conferences and Chairperson of the National Negotiating Committee on the Nile Basin Initiative Framework Cooperation from 2004 to 2005.

Mr. Ngango has a master’s degree in international development policy from Seoul National University in the Republic of Korea (2012) and a bachelor’s degree in political science and international relations from the University of Lubumbashi in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, formerly Zaire (1993).  He was born on 22 December 1965 and is married.
