NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF VANUATU PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO THE DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF THE UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA

Sumbue Antas, the new Permanent Representative of Vanuatu to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Michael Møller, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Antas served as Director, Department of External Trade of Vanuatu since 2011. He was the Secretary of the Vanuatu Public Service Commission from 2010 to 2011 and served as a customs and trade consultant from 2009 to 2010. He served in Fiji at the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat from 2002 to 2009 as a trade facilitation officer.

Mr. Antas served as the interim General Manager of the Vanuatu Broadcasting and Television Corporation from 2001 to 2002. He was Acting Director General at the Vanuatu Ministry of Finance and Economic Management and Managing Director General for Vanuatu Public Financial Institutional Reforms in 1999. He also served as Director of Vanuatu Customs and Inland Revenue from 1998 to 2002.

Mr. Antas has TAFE certificates in management (2007); a certificate in customs management (1987); and degrees from Kingston University London, United Kingdom (1986) and the University of Papua New Guinea (1981 to 1983). He is married.
