NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF MONGOLIA PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA

Lundeg Purevsuren, the new Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Michael Møller, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Purevsuren had been serving as the Foreign Policy Advisor to the President of Mongolia since 2016. He was the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia from 2014 to 2016. From 2009 to 2014, he served as National Security and Foreign Policy Advisor to the President of Mongolia. He was the First Secretary and Counsellor at the Department of Europe at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Mongolia from 2001 to 2009.

A career diplomat, Mr. Purevsuren joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia in 1989. He served as the First and Second Secretary at the Embassy of Mongolia in Bonn, Germany from 1995 to 2000; Attache and Third Secretary at the Department of Europe and America at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia from 1993 to 1995; interpreter at the Embassy of Germany to Mongolia from 1991 to 1993; and Attache at the Department of Public Administration at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia from 1989 to 1991.

Mr. Purevsuren has an M.A. in Western European studies. He graduated in 1989 from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations. He is married with two children.
