NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF SWEDEN PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA
Veronika Bard, the new Permanent Representative of Sweden to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented her credentials to Michael Møller, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
Prior to her appointment to Geneva, Ms. Bard had been serving as Ambassador of Sweden to the Russian Federation since 2012. From 2007 to 2012, she was Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sweden to the Organization of Security and Cooperation in Europe. She served as Minister and Deputy Head of Sweden’s Embassy in Vienna from 2002 to 2007.
Ms. Bard joined the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Sweden in 1980. She served in London as Second Secretary from 1981 to 1984; in Moscow as First Secretary from 1984 to 1988; and in Bonn as Press Attache from 1990 to 1992. She has also held other positions in Stockholm.
Ms. Bard has a B.A. from the University of Stockholm (1976). She was born in Solleftea, Sweden in 1954 and has three sons and a daughter.
