NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF ESTONIA PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA

Presentation of Credentials

Andre Pung, the new Permanent Representative of Estonia to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Michael Møller, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his Geneva posting, Mr. Pung served for five years as the Director General of the External Economic and Development Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia. Between 2006 and 2010, he was the Ambassador of Estonia to the Republic of Ireland. In 2005-2006, Mr. Pung worked as a Director of a division in the External Economic and Development Cooperation Department.

A career diplomat, Mr. Pung served as the Consul General in the General Consulate of Estonia in Saint Petersburg between 2001 and 2005. Prior to that, he was a Director of a division in the Foreign Economic Policy Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. His first diplomatic posting abroad was at the Embassy of Estonia in Riga, Latvia, where he served as the Second Secretary between 1996 and 1999. Mr. Pung started his career in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an attaché in the Foreign Economic Policy Department in 1993.

Mr. Pung received his degree at the Tallinn University of Technology in 1993. In addition to his native Estonian, he is fluent in English and Russian. Born in 1970, Mr. Pung is married and has two children.
