NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF GABON PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNOG

Baudelaire Ndong Ella, the new Permanent Representative of Gabon to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Ndong Ella had been serving as Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative of Gabon to the African Union since November 2009, a post he also held from July to October 2009. From 2007 to 2009, he acted as interim Chargé d’Affaires at Gabon’s Embassy in Ethiopia, the Permanent Mission to the African Union, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, and the United Nations Environment Programme. He served as First Councillor at the same embassy and missions from 2005 to 2008.

A career diplomat, Mr. Ndong Ella has held various posts at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and the Francophonie of Gabon, including as Ambassador and Deputy Director-General for International Cooperation (October and November 2009); and Head of the United Nations Division (1996 to 2005).

Mr. Ndong Ella has an M.A. in international law from the University of Nantes in France (2008); a Post Graduate Diploma from the National Administration School in Gabon (1995); an M.A. in public law from the University of Omar Bongo in Gabon (1993); and a B.A. in public law from the same University (1992). He was born on 9 May 1967 in Oyem, Gabon, and is married with five children.
