NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF LITHUANIA PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNOG

Presentation of Credentials

Jonas Rudalevicius, the new Permanent Representative of Lithuania to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Sergei Ordzhonikidze, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Rudalevicius had been serving as an Ambassador at the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania since 2006. From 2001 to 2006, he served as Lithuania’s Ambassador to Austria. From 2000 to 2001, Mr. Rudalevicius served as Ambassador for Special Missions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He worked at the Ministry of Public Administration Reforms and Local Authorities at the level of Minister from 1999 to 2000. From 1997 to 1999, he was a Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 1995 to 1997, he was the Director General of the Association of Local Authorities of Lithuania. He served as Counselor at the Embassy of Lithuania in the Federal Republic of Germany from 1992 to 1995.

From 1973 to 1991, Mr. Rudalevicius served as a senior lecturer and associate professor at the Building Organization and Management Department of Vilnius Technical University. He has a degree as an engineer economist from the University (1973) and a Doctor of Social Sciences (1984). Born on 26 April, 1950, Mr. Rudalevicius is married with a daughter.
