NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF EGYPT PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNOG
Hisham Badr, the new Permanent Representative of Egypt to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Sergei Ordzhonikidze, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Badr had been working as Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs of Egypt and Director of the Diplomatic Personnel Department. Mr. Badr served as Ambassador of Egypt to Japan from 2003 to 2007. He was Chief of Staff of the Cabinet of the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States from 2001 to 2003. From 1998 to 2001, he was Deputy Director of the Cabinet of the Foreign Minister.
Mr. Badr also served as Counselor at the Embassy of Egypt in Washington from 1993 to 1998, and Second Secretary at the Embassy of Egypt in Tokyo from 1985 to 1990. In addition to his diplomatic career, Mr. Badr has an academic year, teaching political science and diplomacy at the American University in Cairo from 1992 to 1994, 1999 to 2001, and 2002 to 2003.
Mr. Badr was born on 1 November 1961. He has a BA in political science from the American University in Cairo (1982), an MA in political science from Oxford University in the United Kingdom (1985), and an MA in international relations from the American University in Cairo (1987).
