NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF GREECE PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNOG

Presentation of Credentials

Franciscos Verros, the new Permanent Representative of Greece to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Sergei Ordzhonikidze, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Verros had been serving since 2002 as Director of the Department of International Organizations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece. From 1996 to 2001, he was the Secretary of the Political Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Western European Union. He was assigned to the Embassy of Greece in France from 1992 to 1996.

A career diplomat, Mr. Verros served as Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece from 1990 to 1992. He was assigned to the Embassy of Greece in the German Democratic Republic from 1985 to 1989. He served at the Permanent Mission of Greece to the European Union from 1981 to 1985. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1979.

Mr. Verros was born in Athens on 28 June 1954. He is married with three children.
