很高兴欢迎各位朋友们出席今天的特别活动， 共庆春节和中国新年—龙年。感谢何亚非大使和中国常驻团组织了这些活动，
彰显了中国的文化遗产， 特别是中国的音乐， 美食和艺术。

我高度重视中国常驻团长期以来的不断努力，
在万国宫把中国的文化介绍给联合国大家庭。最近， 我荣幸地访问了中国， 参加了恢复中国在联合国合法权利40周年的庆祝活动。
此次访问使我进一步坚信，中国拥有巨大的经济和政治潜力。 作为一个大国和安理会常任理事国，
中国极大地促进了国际安全以及千年发展目标的实现。
作为联合国，我们极为赞赏这些努力。
中国过去和现在都是联合国的一个重要和可靠的伙伴。

Dear Colleagues:
We also highly appreciate the substantive contribution of China to increasing the role of international Geneva as a distinct platform for multilateral diplomacy. Going forward, Chinese leadership will be essential in addressing global challenges and promoting the fundamental values of the United Nations.

亲爱的同事们，
中国在加强日内瓦作为国际上独特的多边外交论坛方面做出了巨大贡献，我们对此极为欣赏。展望未来，中国在解决全球挑战 和促进联合国核心价值中发挥领导作用将是至关重要的。

Ladies and Gentlemen:
I know that according to the Chinese zodiac, the dragon is considered special because it is associated with the history of China, is known as a creature of myth and legend, and is respected as a symbol of power and wisdom. Today, it is the ultimate auspicious symbol signifying success and happiness.

I also thank Ambassador He for the excellent Chinese outfit kindly sent to me the other day.

On this special occasion, I would therefore like to wish you - and the people of China - well-being and further success. And congratulations for this New Year!
