NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF THE NETHERLANDS PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO THE DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF THE UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA
Monique T.G. Van Daalen, the new Permanent Representative of the Netherlands to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented her credentials to Michael Møller, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
Prior to her appointment to Geneva, Ms. Van Daalen had been serving as the Ambassador of the Netherlands to Germany since 2013. From 2011 to 2013, she was the Director-General for Consular Affairs and Operational Management and Deputy Secretary-General at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands in The Hague. She was the Deputy Secretary-General at the Ministry from 2009 to 2011.
Ms. Van Daalen served as the Consul-General of the Netherlands in Miami, United States, between 2002 and 2005, and, prior to that she served as the First Secretary at the Permanent Mission of the Netherlands to the United Nations in New York, from 1996 to 2001. Between 1994 and 1996, Ms. Van Daalen was a private secretary to the Secretary-General and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands in The Hague. She also served as a policy officer in the Multilateral Development Cooperation and Special Programmes Department (1991-1994) in The Hague, and as a Third Secretary at the Dutch Embassy in the Republic of Korea. Ms. Van Daalen joined the Foreign Ministry of the Netherlands in 1988.
Ms. Van Daalen has Bachelor’s degrees in International Law, and in Art History and Archelogy, as well as a Master’s degree in Modern Asian History, all from the University of Amsterdam.
Born in Amsterdam in 1960, Ms. Van Daalen is married and has two children.
