DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNOG MEETS WITH FIRST VICE-PRESIDENT OF THE GOVERNEMENT OF SPAIN

Sergei Ordzhonikidze, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva, met today with Maria Teresa Fernández de la Vega, the First Vice-President of the Government of Spain and Minister of the Presidency.

The Director-General and the Vice-President exchanged views on a range of issues, including the global fight against terrorism, the reform of the United Nations and its impact on the work of the United Nations family in Geneva, as well as on disarmament-related matters.

The Director-General thanked the Vice-President for Spain’s continued commitment and active contribution to the efforts of the Organization.

Following the meeting, the Director-General and the Vice-President opened, together with the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Louise Arbour, the exhibition entitled "Protected Art", which recounts the story of the art works of the Prado Museum in Madrid that were kept safe at the Palais des Nations in the 1930s.
