DIRECTOR-GENERAL MEETS WITH PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVES OF THE LATIN AMERICAN AND CARIBBEAN GROUP

Sergei Ordzhonikidze, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG), met today with members of the Latin American and Caribbean Group for informal discussions on issues of mutual interest and concern, including the Secretary-General’s ongoing reform efforts; security and safety at the Palais des Nations and other United Nations Secretariat entities in Geneva; preparations for the Geneva celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the United Nations, and UNOG’s Cultural Activities Programme.

The meeting was chaired by the Coordinator of the Group, Mr. Juan Martabit, Permanent Representative of Chile.

The delegates welcomed the comprehensive exchange, which took place within the context of UNOG’s ongoing efforts to support and facilitate the work of the diplomatic community in Geneva and to enable more efficient collaboration.

Similar dialogues have taken place, or are being planned, with other regional groups.
