The goal for UN Geneva is to provide efficient, effective and expert procurement services, while achieving best value for money and ensuring a competitive, fair and transparent process in accordance with established regulations, rules and procedures. UN Geneva provides purchasing and contracting services to several UN offices located in Europe, Africa and Middle East. The United Nations represents a global market of over USD 17 billion annually for all types of products and services.

Through the United Nations Global Marketplace, a tool to shortlist suppliers for competitive bidding, UN procurement staff are brought together with the vendor community. The UNGM also enables vendors to keep abreast of upcoming tender notices. The Marketplace facilitates the interchange of vendor information within the UN system as information is made available to all UN organizations.

Through our services and marketplace, vendors have an excellent springboard to introduce products and services to many UN organizations, countries and regions.

Doing business with the UN

Registration through UNGM is the first step to be considered for participating in tendering exercises in an easy and systematic way. Registering through UNGM will provide access to most UN organizations and all UN Secretariat entities, including Field Missions, Offices away from Headquarters (e.g. United Nations Office at Geneva) and Economic Commissions and Tribunals.

Who we are

The mission of the Procurement and Contracts Unit (PCU)/Purchase and Transportation Section (PTS) is to provide efficient, effective and expert procurement services to all its clients. This is done through a competitive, fair and transparent process in accordance with established regulations, rules and procedures, while achieving best value for money. PCU has the following four specialized sub-units that provide a variety of procurement services, notably:

Construction and Building Related Procurement
Contract Management & Quality Assurance
General Goods and Services Procurement
Information and Communication Technology Procurement

In addition, PCU has procurement officers that work in the Strategic Heritage Plan (SHP) at UNOG, as well as on Compliance matters and as the Secretariat of the Common Procurement Activities Group (CPAG).
